Franklin County

Lowes Creek Cemetery

From the book "Franklin Co., Arkansas Cemeteries, South of the Arkansas River"

Lowes Creek Cemetery is located in the Lowes Creek Community on county road #48, 6.3 miles south of Hwy 96 or about 5 miles north on Hwy 41 from Branch, Arkansas.  Lucas Coleman Milam donated the land for this cemetery in 1871.

Small 4x9 inch granite markers have been placed in the ground by the Cemetery Board in an effort to identify all unmarked graves in the cemetery.  Some just have initials and some are blank.  The fieldstones that once marked the graves have been removed for ease of mowing.

The Milam Family History researched by Vera Milam Ryker was published in 1989 and the information enclosed in parentheses was added from her book by Jerry Allen Milam of Wichita, Kansas, who is the great-grandson of Lucas Coleman Milam.
